Vitae Foundation
Research Institute
Grading details

The Vitae Foundation is a pro-life research institute that did a women's research study conducted on their behalf by Dr. Rodney Brim on how abortive decisions effect women/how women make abortive decisions. The study initially started out being a broad study amongst all female races, but then it was decided to centralize the study on black/minority women. Eventually the study would expand later. Since black/minority women are disproportionally affected by abortion, it was decided that the study would focus on black women first. They brought on a young a woman black who was already doing pro-life work in the black community, to assist with this study, and help with fund raising for it. During talks prior to hiring and during the research/fund raising process it was made clear that her participation would also consist of funds going towards implementing the research results into the black community while also giving back to black minority communities as funds were raised. It was also decided upon that a documentary would be produced to show on HBCU campuses and black churches, along with other strategic plans, to implement the research in measurable impact ways. During the pre-production process of the documentary (after funds were raised) Vitae canceled the young black woman's involvement in the production process of the documentary, after she had written the script and was awaiting approval. Vitae President at the time (Brandy Meeks) stated that they would be reallocating the raised funds away from the documentary and pre-planned black/minority community outreach in conjunction. In an attempt for Vitae to part ways amicably after what felt like a betrayal (as described by the young black woman) Vitae offered her $25,000 if she would sign an NDA, to part ways from their organization. She refused to sign an NDA, and they gave her two months of pay as severance. At this time, we give The Vitae Foundation an F- grade for lack of follow through with building trustworthy genuine community relationships in the black/minority community, on the scene and the behind the scenes when it comes to living up to their pro-life mission.
